Christian F. Mauro, PhD

Screens for Teens and Tweens: What Do We Know and What Can We Do?
Dr. Mauro received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Wake Forest University. He earned his master’s and doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He joined the Duke University Medical Center faculty after completing the psychology internship program at Duke. He has been a certified cognitive behavioral therapist (CBT) on a number of NIMH funded clinical trials and was the CBT Supervisor for The Child and Adolescent Anxiety Multimodal Treatment Study (CAMS) at Duke University. Dr. Mauro has had a number of teaching and leadership roles in the department. Since 2003, he has been Director of the Psychosocial Treatment Clinic where he supervises and trains graduate students, psychology interns, and child psychiatry fellows on evidence based practice for children and adolescents. Since July 1, 2016, he has directed the APA Accredited Pre-doctoral Psychology Internship Program . This nationally recognized program provides doctoral-level internship training in the essential skill areas of Clinical Psychology.
Sean Pumphrey, MSW, LCSW

Sean is a psychotherapist at The Brody School of Medicine in the Department of Family Medicine. His clinical expertise includes the treatment of grief issues, depression, mood disorders and life transitions in children, adolescents, adults and families. He is appointed as graduate teaching faculty at ECU’s College of Health and Human Performance, School of Social Work, and has taught over 25 semesters at that level. Sean is also a national and regional speaker on topics such as ethics, suicide and therapy.
Alicia Freeman, LCMHC, LCAS-A

Unapologetically You: The Power of Radical Self-Care

Alicia Freeman is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist — Associate who is passionate about destigmatizing mental health in underrepresented populations and rural communities. She works as the Mental Health First Aid Program Manager in the Behavioral Health Springboard. She has a background in vocational evaluation, accessibility, wellness, career counseling and substance use counseling. Alicia was raised in a rural Native American community called Buckhead and is a member of the Waccamaw Siouan Tribe. She values connection, interdependence, and collective healing through cultural and spiritual lenses. In her free time she enjoys exercising, crafting, spending time with friends and family, and cuddling with her fur baby Cayden.
